Review on πŸ”ͺ Farberware 6-Piece Knife Set with Non-Stick Resin Coating in Vibrant Red, Green, and Purple by Jason Man

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Soft on one side, sharp on the other

This knife is amazingly sharp! I bought this knife primarily for its non-stick polymer coating and soft blue color. If Pure Komachi had this color on a 5 inch Santoku blade, I would never have thought of this knife. But I'm glad I did! At first glance (no pun intended) this bad boy is razor sharp. I slice raw corn on the cob (still wrapped in leaves) like butter! Okay, maybe not that easy, but I'd say easier than slicing cucumbers with my other santoku knives. And it's a lot sharper than what I'm used to (or rather what my hands are used to). I tried a stick of cheddar, oh boy, I felt like I was cutting soft brie. I really hope the edge stays that sharp and the resin continues to do its non-sticky job over time. I think part of it depends on my use and handling. I like it at the moment. To put it more analytically: The pen feels velvety soft made of silicone, similar to a mobile phone case made of silicone. But it's still firm in my hand and doesn't get slippery when it gets wet. Plus, the shape fits my grip like it was born out of a wish come true. In addition to an FDA-approved non-stick coating, the blade has knurled ridges similar to a Granton blade (see uploaded image). The included scabbard is the same color as the blade and handle. It has this transparent design that seems to be nothing more than aesthetics. This is the part I like to leave or make as holes because sometimes when the knife is put back in it gets stuck in the structure. Insert it slowly at first and then quickly like a samurai sword to ease the problem. Also, the only thing that seems to keep me from cutting rifts in time and space is not wielding this knife. Just kidding :) I recommend this knife for everyday kitchen work. Specially designed for cutting corn and cheese.
