Don't count on it! - Sports and Wearable GPS

I replaced an old Garmin with this and was initially very impressed with the features and functionality of the screen. Even before using it, I registered the device and updated the firmware and maps. When first used, the device lost satellite reception three times during a relatively short drive. I figured it must be weather related or just orientation. On each ride the same thing happened - the device lost satellite reception (with a suction cup on the window - the sky is so clearly visible and up to 5 satellites were received) and the device stopped for 3-10 minutes. before being accepted again. Called a Garmin tech rep who walked me through the reset, firmware rollback, etc. She instructed me to bring the device inside every time I'm not in the car so it's not cold or hot. (to become real!). Neither repair nor change anything. It may be true that "warming up" the device contributes to the issue, but I've been using Garmin GPS devices for over 10 years and have rarely encountered temperature-related issues. Also, the device works great when it's cold - the issue can appear anytime after I start using it. Randomly throughout the ride (up to 3 miles) when the device stops. I can't imagine the confusion this will cause when traveling through a large, unfamiliar city. return of the block. It was great working with Revine. There was no Garmin! Sorry Garmin - your products have been "my only GPS" for all these years, but I think we're parting ways! Continuation. I sent the unit back (great service from Revain) and Garmin tried again with a cheaper unit. Nuvi 255W was significantly cheaper and absolutely reliable even in very cold weather. And to my surprise, it has almost everything as in 1300, except for Life Cards. By the way, I never took 255 watts to get him to bed at night! (as suggested by Garmin Tech to fix the 1300 intermittent satellite problem!)

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...
