I replaced an old Garmin with this and was initially very impressed with the features and functionality of the screen. Even before using it, I registered the device and updated the firmware and maps. When first used, the device lost satellite reception three times during a relatively short drive. I figured it must be weather related or just orientation. On each ride the same thing happened - the device lost satellite reception (with a suction cup on the window - the sky is so clearly visible and up to 5 satellites were received) and the device stopped for 3-10 minutes. before being accepted again. Called a Garmin tech rep who walked me through the reset, firmware rollback, etc. She instructed me to bring the device inside every time I'm not in the car so it's not cold or hot. It may be true that "warming up" the device contributes to the issue, but I've been using Garmin GPS devices for over 10 years and have rarely encountered temperature-related issues.
