The dome assembly is excellent in quality and size. I was a little apprehensive about this replacement due to so little feedback, but how many camper domes that are of a specific type have been replaced? Buying replacement parts always seems like a mystery, so I took some pictures for others to see. First, the part is an ASSEMBLY, not just a plastic dome. On my camper (2001 Hawk 4WD camper), the hinge plate and lift groove were an exact replacement and were already installed on the top. Lift the dome with the lift arm from inside, go up, unscrew the old dome with 4 screws, install the new dome assembly with the same 4 screws (don't forget to attach the lift slide arm first, to make it easier) and done. The plastic dome itself is an assembly (see photo #5) of a lower shell and an upper shell welded to the former in a sandwich to create an "insulated" cover. The lower shell itself is the same thickness as the original plastic dome (photo #3). I don't know how well the double shells insulate, but they should at least work a little better than the originals. The underside of the dome also features a properly positioned awesome fan part, a handle that pushes down on a safety switch and prevents the fan from running when the dome is fully closed. It's in just the right spot when the dome is lowered (photo #7). I verified that the fan does not work when the switch is pressed (good) and works after the dome opens about 1/2 inch (also good). There is another handle sticking out from the inside at the bottom. a corner NOT on the 2001 FWC Hawk (photo #3). I suspect it's due to pressing the fan switch on another model. It's okay - it doesn't interfere with the fan on mine. It could be cut off easily. The dark color of the plastic does not mean it is opaque. Rather, it is still transparent, like dark sunglasses. In the 7th photo you are looking at the sky on a clear day in Arizona. .
