HORRIBLE design but I have a (crappy) solution

UPDATE: Now for my FOURTH purchase! That's the price I had to pay to protect my radio without drilling holes in the dash. SEE PHOTO. After drilling a 1/16th hole in the cap, I basically tied a piece of fishing line to a piece of plastic washer I have. attached to the inside of the lid. I tied the other end to the brake line, I had to buy the third one. Electra Glide Classic 2002. Lost 2 more just ridden normally
