Review on 3-Piece Knife Starter Set πŸ”ͺ for Wood Carving: FLEXCUT KN500 Tools by Laura Arnett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

First project using the Flexcut Starter Kit

I found these knives easy to use, relatively sharp right out of the box and easy to keep sharp. They held their edge well even when working through tough branches and dried sap. The price of the set seems reasonable and the instruments appear to be well constructed. Most of my woodworking experience is with power tools, but I recently received a birthday gift from Working Wood 1 & 2: Craftsman Course with Paul Sellers and am exploring Paul's workshop. Woodworking courses using only hand tools without a motor. He explains that not only does he want to preserve the ancient knowledge of the craft, but that each carpenter will gain a deeper understanding of grain and carpentry by working on some projects using only hand tools. I had some cedar and lilac branches from the garden that had fallen down due to the heavy snowfall, so I invited my retired father over and we spent a Saturday afternoon in the basement creating the first woodworking tutorial projects. We used a handsaw, rasp, chisel and this carving knife set to carve wooden spatulas and spoons. I refined them with some olive oil and use them regularly in my kitchen.
