This product does what it says on the tin but I would avoid it in bright light conditions. I used this for R/O water treatment for a 29g aquarium with natural plants. After a week I noticed a lot of hair and black beard algae growth. After a quick test, I found my phosphate levels were off the charts. I don't overfeed my fish and maintenance is regular so I was confused as to where these phosphates were coming from. My LFS advised me to use a phosphate absorbing filter material, which ultimately didn't work. After a few weeks of fighting algae, I decided to take a different route in my R/O water treatment to see if that would make a difference. After a week of using Vitro supplements, extra water changes, and adding fresh Phosgaurd to my filter, the phosphate levels dropped to low, healthy levels. Since then I do not have problems anymore. TLDR: This product WILL bring your PH to the desired level and acts as a good buffer to keep it there, but be careful if you have a brightly lit aquarium as algae will grow. from all the phosphates that come with it.
