On my saddle, they stick out so far that they make it difficult to get into the saddle (if you prefer to sit from the horse's shoulder to his behind). They appear to be well built, but I haven't used them much due to assembly issues. I wish I had known how bulky they are before buying. I've seen other scalloped bags that have a thinner profile and I think they'll work better.
