I have a large Irish head which means my head also hurts a lot if something like a sports headband or swim cap is too tight. For some reason, stuff that clogs my ears tightly gives me a headache for a fairly short time. After trying latex caps and realizing they were too tight to swim for an hour, I decided to swim without a cap, but soon found that the hairs in front of my goggles were almost as annoying as a headache. I decided to try a lycra hat, I was happy with the result. If you are considering this hat, keep in mind that it will not keep your hair dry. However, this keeps it away from your eyes. While it's not waterproof, it also prevents water from getting into the ears, which you tilt up in the classic crawl. I am happy with this purchase because Lycra stretches comfortably over my head and has the function of keeping hair out of my eyes and water out of my left ear.
