Not as "complete " as I expected. Missing 1 of 10 EAA

Hello dear dog parents! I assume you are as obsessed with your dog as I am with mine. I'm obsessed with his health (more so than my own) so I've done a lot of research on dog food, nutrition and supplements. I'm not a vet so these are just my observations and opinions based on what I "learned" while studying dog nutrition. Ready? Let's go! :) The product name "Raw Support" implies that this dietary supplement is intended solely for dogs on a raw diet. It's not, and I think someone will miss it based on the title alone, thinking it's just for raw feeding. Because that's exactly what I noticed when I saw it, because I feed it raw. This supplement contains 9 of the 10 essential amino acids. Essential amino acids are not naturally produced by the body (human and animal) and must be obtained from food. It does not contain threonine. The amino acids work together like parts of a machine in a step-by-step process, and if any of the 10 are missing, the process stops. So missing 1 out of 10 makes a big difference? It's up to you I think. If you assign this add-on exclusively for the EAA profile, you can choose another one. (Threonine is a protein building block that supports muscles, ligaments, and the nervous system.) It contains taurine, one of the 10 essential amino acids. Many dogs on a grain-free diet lack taurine. Taurine is "essentialโ€ for one reason: heart health. On the other hand, EAAs produce protein in a stepwise process. So if 1 in 10 is missing, will your dog actually be processing taurine? Again, I'm not a vet so take it as is and do your own research. Considering it a vitamin and mineral formula only and not a supplier of essential amino acids, the minerals and vitamins it contains are from a natural source (algae) and are not synthetic. This is a plus as your body can process nutrients from a 'food source' more efficiently than anything synthetic (at least in most cases). You might want to look at the calcium to phosphorus ratio it contains. I won't go into crazy details because I'm no expert, just do your own research, especially if your dog has kidney problems. :) It contains flaxseed flour. Flaxseed is only digestible if it's ground flaxseed or flaxseed (technically the same thing), so it's a good thing it's flour. Flaxseed is generally considered hypoallergenic and is said to help with dry skin and a dull coat. It is generally recommended to add ground flaxseed or flaxseed meal to the food for allergy sufferers. Flaxseed is a dietary fiber and as such can cause indigestion (diarrhea), so it's best to give it in small doses at first. There are different opinions. Information on flaxseed supplements for both humans and dogs. So, if necessary, do your own research. Algae is the best dietary source of iodine. Iodine supports the thyroid gland and this dietary supplement is made from 19 different types of seaweed. So if your dog has thyroid disease or their breed is prone to thyroid disease then I think this would be a good choice. The first picture is a lot # and the product expiry date (August 2025). I could break this supplement down further, but in the end it would be better if you did it yourself because only you know the problems your dog is having or trying to prevent. And only you know what your diet consists of or doesn't consist of. Do I think this is a good addition? Qualitatively, of course. I would say based on the nutrient source (algae from the pristine waters of Atlantic Canada) which you would technically consider "pure" and natural. , I don't think this will be a good choice for many, especially for the cost. 4 stars for a 2 star search as the purpose and benefits seem to limit who this formula is best for. Medium = I would give her 2.5 stars if allowed. I hope my humble opinion helps you in some way. Thank you for caring enough for your dog to explore supplements for them and thank you for reading all of this too.
