Works well with shorter knives

I've read previous reviews of knives breaking with use but thought for the price it was worth a try. This sharpener has worked well on my paring knives that are over 5 years old. However, I see that it would be difficult to get the blade of a longer knife straight through the sharpening wheels. The instructions warn not to "twist" or press hard on the blade during use. Most of us are used to sharpening steel knives, I don't think ceramic blades are that strong so they need to be treated with much more care.
