Review on πŸ”§ 8 Inch Keyless Pistol Drill by DEWALT DWD110K by John Bailey

Bad cartridge design? for power tools

I have had this drill for a little over two years and have used it probably 3 or 4 times since I bought it. . Perhaps a minute of drilling is the maximum per application. Visually, the drill can still pass as a newcomer. The chuck is no longer pulling hard enough to adequately prevent the drills from rotating. Even drilling through 18 gauge metal will cause bits of any size to slip in the chuck after a partial break. I have to use channellock pliers to tighten the chuck just enough to secure the bit so it doesn't slip in the chuck. I noticed that the jaws of the chuck do not enter the chuck body evenly. I've tried lubricating the chuck, which now allows the jaws to retract evenly, but it still won't grip the drill without using pliers to tighten. Otherwise the drill seems strong enough. I think I'll buy a new cartridge. Update 01/03/2015: I finally ordered and received a new Jacobs keyless chuck. I've looked at YouTube videos that say you have to loosen the screw to remove the chuck and a message board where someone told someone that all reversible drills have a screw that holds the chuck in place. NO, not on this one. I found a picture of the details for it and NO SCREW. There is also no thread for the hole. Just a note.
