I have 5 cats. They throw out litter every time they leave the box regardless of the brand of litter I use. I have tried several Petsmart and Petco blankets. All of them were either ordinary useless mats with garbage just lying around, or soft, but they couldn't be cleaned. Or I had these very tightly knitted (?) paw shaped rugs that catch some debris and I could never quite get them out. This garbage mat collects dirt best and is easy to empty. Every piece of trash reaches the second layer, and it's so easy to toss **all** trash into the bin. None of this sticks. (I'm using the Dr. Sikora Elsey Ultra clumping cat litter as a reference. The litter is the size of standard clay cat litter.) I have 3 mats now and one of them has been worn for several months. I have no idea why other brands don't copy this design where the holes are big enough to collect all the junk AND you can dump it out by opening it! It's awesome and the only effective one I've tried. There is no rubbish on the carpet; it falls right into the mat and stays there until I pour it out. Washing: I haven't had a reason to wash it yet, but I think most of the material is rubber or something, so it will be easy to wash. No fabric or anything soft that will rub off and dry for 3 days if you live in a high humidity area. Slip/Move: Most of my rugs are on carpet, but one is on a hardwood floor. None of them move at all, which is a problem with other rugs, even on carpet. One of my cats pushed the light thin rug we had even while lying on the rug. Not this one! It's just heavy enough that a cat can't just push it onto a hardwood floor. Nothing gets stuck below. As a general rule, if you have a cat, get this rug (or a similar one with the same design, if you have one). Don't waste your money on anything else lol.
