does not work! Tried with multiple drives, different cables, different controllers. No dice on all accounts. Just defective and not worth the time/hassle of returning it. Hence this bad rating! I bought a same brand SATA/IDE converter and it worked, so I think it works; Some of their products work. BTW the lights come on and the hard drives spin but nothing is sent from the drive to the motherboard ide/ide controller boards. I've checked the solder joints and can't find anything suspicious because two ide pins are soldered together, which I've never seen on any other ide product, so after a little research I can easily remove this solder joint. what these contacts are and why they deserve to be soldered directly. I also tested the drives with a crappy USB/laptop IDE converter and the drives just work. What else can I say? I think I will try another brand of converter, or hopefully this converter will work after modification. When I think about it after inspecting the solder joints on the connector, this is pretty crappy next-level work! This product deserves a bad review!
