Plastic is better for home use

Sorry environmentalists, I don't like these paper straws. You have a strange feeling in your mouth. I keep a large plastic cup full of water or tea all day and both ends of the paper straws are starting to get soft from the liquid. These straws are quite thick and I was expecting the thinner straw that I remember from years past. I use a plastic straw and cup for 2 or 3 days before throwing it away so I'm trying to save a bit.
