Over the last 30+ years, my audio condition has had its ups and downs. The highs were good, but I found that rebuilding and starting from a less than envious position can sometimes be an interesting experience. So the disadvantages also have their advantages. For the past 10 years I've pushed the audio hobby to the side while other interests have taken over. All selected items are for sale. Just one of those moments when you have to do the right thing. This trend is slowly beginning to change. I was able to keep one item - my Sony DVP-NS999ES combo player and a small Sony micro system, which was connected to the TV. Last year curiosity got the best of me and I hooked up the player to a set of line inputs, set up the speakers and voila. on PC. Lately I've been longing to take a step or two and started looking at speakers, a tuner, and an integrated amplifier. Now audiophile common sense. Not exactly three words that you'll often see together. They will tell you to make your early changes to the front, rear, source and speakers first. Well the digital source is pretty well covered and the tuner is on the way. The speakers are selected and will be added next. But I need cables to add a tuner. A pair of home-made connecting cables ran between the player and the amplifier. Well, I'm not new to the whole range of cable issues. I've been there and did it a long time ago. and discovers it's not a bunch of horse hockey. Differences can be subtle and require serious listening to uncover. Am I going to spend a few hundred dollars? No way! Will I use regular red/white laces? No way! A reasonable approach lies somewhere in the middle, and I think I just found it. A 1m pair of AudioQuest Evergreen Interconnects arrived in front of the tuner. So what should I do? Connect these kids to the player and launch it. SRV/InStep. A copy of the SACD was in the player. I hit the play button and immediately realized something had changed. And for the better. A little more detail and depth. added some smoothness. just a more natural sound. Not on the night and day level, but still there. And also audible through a small 15-watt amplifier and small speakers. The difference is enough z so I would like to listen to everything. The kind of excitement that usually comes with buying new speakers or something. So now I'm really excited to see what the next two parts will bring. So this experience brings me to a point. These may be the only connections you will ever need. Unless you are planning a major upgrade. Even if you do, this is a very good place to start. If you want decent cables and don't want to break them, look no further. Affordable, well made, with good fit and finish. And they sound good. What's not to like?
