Various filter media from OEM
Although the Bosch 6040C filter is HEPA compliant, it does not use carbon in its filter media like the OEM design. I'm not sure how important this will be to performance, but it might explain the price drop. As I am a non-smoker and my BMW Z4 is a convertible which is often exposed outdoors I think the difference should be negligible for the intended use. Worth a try.
