PERFECT FOR RENTAL NAILS

I have very curved nails that also break! I could never grow them out - I always had to cut them close to the skin. No longer! I started using gel and it helped (I hate fake nails and never wanted acrylic). But my nails still curled so much that the sides and edges of the nails where they grew out of the skin detached from the gel in less than a week. I use IBX which has helped them last 7-9 days but the gel still came loose due to the crease. Then I found this! After a few layers (even transparent), silk is no longer visible. I cut off the pieces and place them on the underside of the nail. After shaping (try making it a little shorter than the edges of the nail so the silk is fully submerged in the polish) I tape it with self-adhesive tape. I tried putting glue on it, but then I found that if you put foundation gel on it, it lasts longer. Be careful when wiping over it as silk is easy to move around. Be very careful and work from the center to the edges in a light layer. Then harden and wipe with alcohol. If there are protrusions (silk or foundation) that might show through, quickly run a fine file or medium sized buffer over them. And file the fabric overlapping the end of the nail. Then I apply a color or clear and top coat. I like matte so I use Sally Hensen for the finish. I cover the end of the nail very carefully with clear coat, top coat and Sally Hensen Coats. Nail with a gel top coat and a matte finish to ensure the ends remain fully covered. My nails lasted 4 weeks! And even then, the problem usually only occurs in a few places. I fix these areas (thanks to my file and a very light touch), I don't have to redo them all, just bad spots. I reshape them because I don't want them to get long and then repeat the steps as I need to, which often means I have a double coat of silk at the tip and a coat in the middle of the nail. Anyway, they don't look fat - just normal! I don't know how long I can last the repair rather than a full replacement - but it's been at least 8 months now. I couldn't stop looking at them for months - they looked so natural and not short anymore! The photo shows what they look like when I just redid them. I file the edges and pin them as I described when they grow another 1/8 inch.
