Restores the edge quickly, sharpens and sharpens

The Sharpal diamond sharpening steel looks like a traditional sharpening steel, but the Sharpal steel also gently removes the steel from the knife to give the blade a decent sharpness back . It can be used regularly to keep your knives sharp. The tip is pointed and can slide on a hard surface, so I use it by holding it upright on the countertop with a thin rubber mat to secure the rod during use. You can also use a cloth or sponge to prevent slipping. A heavy staff of (according to Sharpal) single crystal diamonds that should last for years even with regular use. Note that diamonds initially appear rough, but after some knives have been sharpened, the surface of the diamond will become a little smoother, but will retain the sharpness and actually give the knives a finer edge. The traditional steel honing rod does not actually remove the steel. Its purpose is to straighten or smooth the edge of the knife. When a knife hits bone or cuts against a hard surface, the blade itself tends to roll over the smallest piece. You don't see it, but you can often feel this roll - it looks like a burr that forms on the edge when sharpening water or whetstones. Conventional steel bends this edge back into place. The Sharpal diamond honing rod smoothes the edge and removes a small amount of steel to give you the cutting edge chefs dream of. . Or get a sharpal diamond stone that never needs leveling. https://www.amazon.com/SHARPAL-Diamond-Whetstone-Storage-Sharpening/dp/B07GRWN1PV/
