It also doesn't wear out as quickly as the abrasive V-types because you can spin the wheels on the abrasive surface. Much better than the four wheel sharpener my mom had when I was a kid. The dual wheel design is where it came from. Simply spin the wheel a little with your finger every few passes to avoid scoring the sharpening blade. Also make sure that the sharpening is done at the right angle and in the right direction, otherwise it obviously won't work properly. The logo/tag should face you as you retract the blade. I've noticed that there are people of dubious intelligence here who say it doesn't work properly. This is simply because something is wrong with their brains and they don't understand basic mechanisms. When used correctly, by retracting the knife at an angle where the blade is below the handle, it is physically impossible for it not to work very well. Probably one of the best sharpeners in the world which is insane given the simplicity and price.
