I used this material to muffle and isolate noise from motors and transformers in my stereo. For example, I leveled the top, bottom and sides of my CD player and this resulted in a noticeably quieter and more solid metal box which I hope will result in better sound quality. This type of improvement is subtle in many applications. So if you're trying to get the best sound out of your gear, this is a way without having to spend a fortune. The material is supplied in rolls similar to aluminum foil. I unrolled it and cut the right pieces that I needed to glue to the inside of the CD player case. After cutting, I just removed the backing paper from the sticky side and pressed it against the surface I was going to apply the material to. Quick and easy with no fuss. The product arrived quickly and was quite large at 54 inches in length. This role took care of my CD player, preamp and amplifier. I had why not use it on any hardware. Tapping the top of these units deadens the audio, giving the device a solid feel of quality. When my CD player is turned on and off, it is noticeably quieter. I am very happy.
