Hours wasted trying to get my Plantronics Backbeat Sense headset to work on my Windows 7 laptop My Laptop supports Bluetooth audio and headset profiles, but Plantronics headset didn't work with it, probably due to lousy drivers. the headset "just works", it has a nice light. - Blue light when the headset is on, so you can easily see if you forgot to turn off the headset (and it's not near your PC). - Red light when you have muted the microphone in the headset during the call. This light is surprisingly useful. Basically, when this dongle is in your laptop, the headset will communicate with the Bluetooth radios in that dongle, not the radios in the laptop. It has good range - I can walk 2-3 rooms around a corner and still get a signal, and as far as I can tell it doesn't interfere with other bluetooth/wifi devices in the house. Otherwise I would have sent the headset back.
