For me it was perfect. I have an AquaClear 30 and an AquaClear 70. I have two heavily planted tanks and am tired of pulling the plants out of the intake tubes. I was also concerned that the augers would enter the tubes and eventually damage the impeller. They also help a little with biological filtration. The sponge glides well over the AC 30 tube and to my surprise the sponge sits well on the cone of the AC 70 tube. Overall this is exactly what I was looking for. Yes they are small but I really didn't want anything big and bulky. for the package that includes all 3 sponges.
