I wanted to save money when my Garmin Swim flooded but ended up buying an actual swim watch. This is fine if you just want to record your swim later but don't want to check your results while you swim. Problems 1) it's not accurate, the distance is 5-10% more than advertised 2) very difficult to use in the pool due to the touchscreen 3) doesn't show the distance until you're done, so it's almost useless for those of us who forget how many laps we drive back and forth. Unfortunately Garmin no longer makes the Swim and the Swim II is much more expensive and a smartwatch (I never forget to charge it) and I bought the Swimovate Live but it is limited in size and functionality and is not supported by the Mac Big Sur . .
