Advantages in durability and performance, disadvantages in light intensity and quality (return)

I am currently fully reviewing the product, but this is the result of a test, not a shoot. My advantages: 1. It's a solid construction compared to similar lights for the price.2. The outer arms allow for up and down rotation (although it is limited down by the barn door. It should have been made deeper)3. The mount goes over the head of the light stand instead of screwing it in. Announcing that this negates the need for Pro #2 to purchase some sort of wobbly intermediate mount.4. The carrying case is an added plus that offers cheaper flashlights in most cases.5. Adjusting the Color Temperature I like the last few days in my recent lights. Disadvantages: 1. Barn doors are poorly designed in that they cover the outer row of lights around the perimeter, reducing light and allowing leakage outside of the area you are contouring2. The problem someone mentioned. I see rows of LEDs on the wall; like a grid. The diffuser helps, but it cuts the light when you max it out. It gets worse when you tighten up the barn door trick.3. Not as much light as I thought there could be. But this part isn't a deal breaker as it's meant to work more closely together or fill out. [Edit: In use it was actually under light unless used as a fill, except on very tight work] The first two issues are causing me to send it back. But I'll try it out on set this weekend before making my final decision. I can give it 4 stars or 2 stars depending on real world performance. and I just couldn't calm down. I still award 3 stars/OK. But be aware. The cons I listed above outweighed the pros. The 660 bulb configuration produced MUCH less than either of the two Mcoplus LED-520B 3500LM CRI95 Studio LED ($119) bi-color bulbs I own. I just hate stepping on them. But in every other respect they shine (pardon the pun). When I returned this one, I replaced it with a VILTORX VL-40T Ultra Slim 40W Dimmable Two-Tone LED Panel ($135). as bright as Mcoplus), same mount I wanted except the mount is designed the way reflected light should be. Barn doors do not obstruct lighting from above or from the sides. You get unhindered access to all LEDs. Disadvantages VILTORX VL-40T - "good" light output and the absence of a diffusion filter, although there is a slot for it. I can't find any to buy either. But the pros are enough for me to keep them. The big problem I have with ALL of these LED lights is that the LED pattern becomes obvious as you narrow the barn doors. It is important for me. But running lights without power cords and easy maneuverability make them too essential for my shoots. So I'm working on it.

Pros
  • Robust construction
Cons
  • Non-automatic
