Review on Durham 115 95 IND Rolled Individual Compartment by Jorge Kumar

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not very durable: Power tool

I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of these boxes. They are made from 22 gauge sheet metal (about 1/32 inch thick). This makes them a bit fragile and they bend easily. I ordered four boxes and each arrived bent or dented. Photo as proof.Any damage will be repaired but why should I?I would exchange them but judging by other reviews I have no reason to believe I will receive the boxes in perfect condition. They are cheap enough that I It doesn't have to worry about repairable damage, but costs enough to worry about problems and would have been around 1975 B.C. (before China), probably made in the USA. Sheet metal is twice as thick and they would have survived the journey from supplier to customer unharmed Unfortunately, outsourcing to China has contributed to deteriorating the quality of goods produced, such as meeting set standards, and if the standard you set is too low , Quality control means nothing. Perhaps the recent corporate tax cut will help usher in a new era of quality and durability in American manufacturing. I'm optimistic about this. Despite everything, I still love these boxes. The plastic shell inserts feel nice and I love the options available. I have these boxes full of nuts and bolts and some of them weigh over 40 pounds. The two boxes I received had the wire part of the lid latch coming loose from the mechanism and I had to reattach it. The handle of the box is spot welded to the box, but there's no way I would attempt to lift a 40-pound, 22-gauge tin box with the handle. maybe if the handle mounting plate was riveted to the box, but it's not. I won't use the pen for anything other than pulling the box from the slide shelf. which I did not have at the time of writing. I hope the sliding shelf is a little more durable than the boxes it was designed for. Conclusion: If you do not take into account the fragile construction of the outer shell, this is a worthwhile purchase for the money. If the manufacturer had made them from 18 gauge sheet metal it would have been a five star product. Addendum: Just wanted to share what I use to store multiple small items in a basket. Aluminum cans come in multiple sizes that are perfect for containers. I use 2 and 3 ounce jars, but they come in larger sizes as well. The diameters are all the same (2.68 inches), but the height varies depending on the volume.
