Review on HUAWEI FreeBuds 5i Wireless Headphones, ceramic white by Adam Sterlinski ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not all that bad, but there are minuses.

The sound quality is both a plus and a minus. And this is no coincidence. Only those who have never heard a truly high-quality sound can talk about high sound quality. This is not surprising. For most young people, sound quality is determined by powerful bass. Generation 50+ has a different attitude to sound quality. Bass is really there, but so-so . There is no need to talk about transparency, depth and velvety sound here. The sound is quite acceptable in order to escape from reality, but nothing more. Three equalizer settings will not allow a pretentious user to customize the sound for themselves. The AiLife application allows you to make the necessary minimum settings, but it is definitely not tailored to music. I don’t know how on Android, but on iPhone, when you try to set up gestures, the application falls off. You have to use the presets. Landing in the ears (at least mine) is weak. The sound guides are short, and the included three pairs of ear pads are small. Therefore, it is impossible to put the headphones deep enough and securely into the auricle. You literally have to screw them into your ear to keep them properly, and the sound quality test in the application gave a positive result. I tried to put in the existing, deeper, ear buds from a wired headset, the situation improved, but third-party round ear buds do not stick well on a short oval sound guide. I had to take it off. Squelch suppresses medium and low frequencies well, street noises, but it is of little use in the subway. The sound of the wheels is muffled, the rest of the noise is heard almost the same as without it. Summary: Before buying headphones, look for any opportunities to test them. In stores, this is practically not realistic, but when ordering at home with cash payment, it is quite possible. Probably the headphones could be put 4-, but for how many there is no such rating, I put 3.

Pros
  • Execution quality. Acceptable, for its price, but far from great sounding. Perhaps a good noise reduction, there is nothing to compare with.
Cons
  • Geometry, quantity and quality of embouchures. Pretty mediocre sound.
