Bought this hat for me and my wife after a long search for cold weather hat options. We needed them for our upcoming photo trip to Yellowstone National Park in the middle of winter in February. It turned out to be one of the coldest weeks on record. Our daily lows were around -25 and warmed up to -10 during the day, not counting the winds. These hats were one of the best pieces of clothing we picked up. We've spent hours outdoors filming wildlife and to be honest our heads and ears didn't get cold at all. Only once did my wife (who is sensitive to cold) mention that she had a cold head and I told her she forgot to put her hat on. So it was a great comparison test, so comfortable, light and even stylish. The short margins were an advantage for me as a photographer. I needed an edge, but something that didn't obstruct my view through the camera's viewfinder. But I also want to protect my eyes from the snow and the sometimes very bright sun. The edges worked perfectly, I hoped, since it was snowing and snowing most of the time outside. What a great purchase and it has withstood hours of very extreme conditions. The head stayed warm, which was an important factor in keeping the rest of the body warm, as when it's cold, a lot of body heat is lost through the head. I must add that my wife didn't want me to buy her one, but she was so glad I did that she rarely took it off, even when we got home from a long day. For example, put a nice warm blanket on your head. To be honest I can't beat it for functionality and price, it exceeded all expectations!
