I was REALLY skeptical about spending $20 on this purchase and even more skeptical when it came out. However, I was delighted with the product. Just brought my cat (who is used to travelling) from DC to Afghanistan with an 11 hour layover in Istanbul. I bought them for her to use during "our break" at the hotel. Basically, they consist of a sturdy paper bag with some padding. This makes them very light and the compartment structure means they take up almost no space in a backpack etc. The label says you can use them for up to a week I'm not sure but we used one at home for about 2 days before leaving to allow the kitten to recognize it as a tray and get used to it. She had no problems and the tray didn't leak or anything. (I put a towel on the carpet just in case, but it was dry!). I'll take another one with me when I travel with her again, but will definitely buy her in the future. They are quite expensive so worth the money for the trip! I'm not sure I recommend using it (no change) for really big cats. Mine weighs about 5.5kg (she is a normal weight but has a stronger build) and fits her well. I think a chubby cat or a larger cat might have trouble getting through the opening. In this case I would recommend cutting off the top so they can go in easily.
