Maybe I got a bad quality chip or maybe it's because I probably put the very first mass batch on the public market but the quality of my chip and imc chips is just bad. My tridentZ xmp is not working and even if I run the default optimized BIOS settings and then press f10 to save and exit I can only stay stable for 5-10 minutes then I get a blue screen with a fatal WHEA error and then will it restarted . Besides, I've been thinking about it. The chip had to handle heat better than the regular 9900K. I have a very basic ekwb cooling circuit from one of the pre-built kits and I'm not sure as stress testing all threads with the CPU-Z benchmark gets me to 95C straight away and then within 30-45 seconds under constant load at Testing I will steadily crawl past 102-104. Maybe I've really lost the silicon lottery, but it's unacceptable for me to release a processor that requires so much cooling performance with optimized default values. Maybe when they finally get to a smaller 7nm die, maybe then they can have processors with that many cores and threads and they won't run hot like a mini Chernobyl on a processor. The only plus is that if I use it for a short 5-10 minutes. 15 peaks several times on a cold night, the processor is really very responsive. It really sucks to be able to really get all the performance you need from a computer that's honestly a few thousand over my budget.
