Like most cats, our cat just likes the idea. So she will have NOTHING to do with that heating pad for the first month! I was ready to call it a failure. I think it was too hot for her at first. Since it doesn't have a thermostat, I covered it with two layers of blanket, but she still didn't use it. I liked that you could leave it on all the time and it stayed on, but since she wasn't using it it just stayed on all the time for no reason. Then we went on a two-week trip and the heating in the house was turned down to 62 the entire time, we left the covers on. Our family checked her out several times while we were away and she was on top every time! And now that we've returned home, the heat mat is still one of her favorite spots, so I'd say we're very glad we got it. It just took a lot of patience until it was "her idea" and we left when the house was cold for a long time.
