Review on 📏 Naniwa Chosera 000 Grit Sharpening Stone by Troy Simpson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

3 stars. just be honest

I don't understand what the noise is. I have to say I really like the 400 grit and the 1k is good too. This 5k brick was not my favorite. This rock was VERY thirsty! Not what I would call splash and go. It required a LONG soak, longer than 400. In fact, I had trouble keeping it wet for quite a while. It got annoying. I kept getting weird air pockets and bubbles between the bottom of the stone and the base. It makes no sense that this stone is almost black, let alone in the picture, it's not purple. more black smoke. You don't see the charge, why didn't they make that stone white? Or orange? Watching the metal stress on the higher grit stone is one of my favorite parts. The overall feel is similar to 1k, slightly softer. On the good side, this stone was at a great price. Because it's an older version, not only is it bigger and Nagura-equipped, it's also significantly cheaper than the new Chosera version. The current one costs well over $150, a lot of money was saved here. This leaves a fantastic shine for 5k. Overall I'm satisfied, but I expected more. I'm starting to find that I prefer Naniwa Superstones to Choera, silly as that may sound.
