But does the job.

Disclaimer: I'm not a professional welder; Most of my experience (3 years) is with GMAW on mild steel and I don't like working with FCAW at all. Those of you more experienced with FCAW can laugh out loud at the probable newbie observations, which I detail below. I ran this wire through Millermatic 180 at 230 volt panels, horizontal and outer fillet welds; It worked fine for this purpose after I entered the settings. A few things that helped: - Preheat the workpiece to hell or stand by for a cold start and no intrusion. - My welder needs waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa lower feed settings than the manual recommends; Check on a board until you get the desired result (of course) - No distortions, drawings or deviations from straight path in general; The gun position should be straight, otherwise you will end up with slag nests and cold seams on the edge of your caterpillar, which are not very pleasant to clean. It's also much easier to see the puddle if you drag and push the slag back along the caterpillar. Also, I've found that a 3/4-inch overhang works well; a little closer and I got more spray. - If you have a straight roller, just let it cool until it starts to crack, then hit it with a flashlight for a few seconds and the slag should flake off immediately. Turning a corner is a different story; Several times I wished I had a needle gun or a shot peening machine. The hardest part of the job was welding the .065" pipe into the hole in the 1/4" plate; Achieving decent plate penetration. Started by putting on a thick, more plate facing bead and then going through it a few times with a very high tension and low feed. Difficult to maintain draw gun position around a small radius. and also define/remove all the slag so that it bubbles up on top and requires more passes, each pass requires more punches, cleaning and rolling of the wire. It was a nightmare and took far too long. Bottom Line: If you have a small stainless steel project that requires horizontal or flat welds on simple geometries, this works well and is a cheap alternative to throwing a bunch of money on stainless steel wire and a trimix bottle. Just consider my advice above .More complex geometries Also you have a real head walking you. phew
