Review on AquaTop MaxFlow Power Head for Aquariums by Carlos Deuschle

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Be tired if the tank is 75 gallons or less.

Very powerful. The model I received had the air vent offset to one side. I have read reviews from people who received a different model than the one shown and this may be the case for me as well. I'm not mad, the flow rate is absolutely brutal. I thought this would work for my heavily planted 75 gallon (sand) tank to disperse the carbon dioxide, but that's too much flow. I'm looking for ways to spread the flow but I don't think a sponge sheet would help much unless it was half inoculated with bacteria. I'll stick with the brand and pick one that's around 200 gallons per hour. My white clouds loved the flow, but my cardinals and diamond nose stayed to one side of the tank. No matter where I placed this head, it was too strong for my 75. I would recommend this for a 75 gallon tank with a rainbow and no plants, or a mbuna/African cichlid tank. **To edit. I just want to point out that my red tetras have gotten used to the current. I still doubt this is the method I want to use to overclock my C02, but it's not as bad as my first impressions. I'm still worried that my plants won't like the power of the current, but I'll be experimenting with diffusers so I can work 24/7. I resorted to plugging and unplugging. I would also like to point out that my fish go nuts when I feed them and my 75 gallon tank has this head. This really gives them the opportunity to exercise and become healthier through increased activity.
