Review on MERIWOOL Womens Lightweight Thermal Charcoal by Chris Kaul

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great active shirt, esp. for tall women

I love merino wool and have gradually replaced most of my synthetic sportswear. It feels better on my skin and doesn't smell like a synthetic fabric. I bought this shirt for cold weather running. I love that it has long sleeves with thumb loops to keep my hands warm when I don't want to be fumbling with gloves. I also like the zipped neckline that allows me to unzip for ventilation when I start warming up. The shirt's weight is a little lighter than I expected, but if I were to compare my 250g Smartwool zip collars to 150g t-shirts, I'd probably have a better idea. However, under a windbreaker or vest it's warm enough (for me) to run in my 30s and 40s. YMMV. In terms of fit, I'm 5ft 8in, 125lbs, hourglass shape and petite as the model shows, maybe a little shorter on me but still quite long overall. I have very long arms, long even for my height, and my sleeves are too long. Hallelujah. If you are short, this shirt will probably be very long for you, especially the sleeves. The sleeves are open, that would be my only minor complaint; You have to hold them over your hands on the wrist, they have to be folded because they won't stay up. They are easy to care for, simply machine wash cold and hang dry. Break-in was negligible.
