Do not purchase this unit for marine use. I did it and I regret it. It installed easily and worked well for several months, but let me down on a recent trip. I installed the device in the battery compartment where it is normally outside the cells. The boat is always covered when not in use. Despite relative protection, the installation failed, apparently due to flooding. You can see the rust coming out of the block in the attached picture. It didn't open so I didn't have a light, radio, or trolling motor, but I think it's better than refusing to close it, which could ignite cords/appliances or start a fire. Luckily I was able to unplug the cords and bypass the switch so my fishing wasn't ruined. I bought this device because it was cheap and supposedly waterproof. Don't make the same mistake I did.
