I am the 5th owner of the misunderstood beagle. I adopted her when she was 5 years old and she never seems to have had a really structured life or training. I've had them for 21/2 years now and am consistent with commands and training. There are a few idiocentric traits I can't fix while I'm out in my truck. At first it was her constant whining and tossing. We've been through a lot on our 10,000 mile journey this year. The only thing I couldn't fix was her barking at every rest stop when I took a break after a walk with her. After using the training collar for a day, I found that it calmed her barking. Instead of a barkless collar, I wanted something I could control and use with a verbal command. I've never had to resort to a shock stimulus. Beep or vibration worked well. I removed the collar after 12 hours. By the end of the next day there was a small but insignificant relapse in her memory, but it wasn't until she put the collar on that she remembered her training. The coach did a very good job. The key is proper leadership and consistent commands.
