I waited a bit before writing a review to see how well it would hold up to repeated daily use for about 6 months. I was surprised at how sturdy it was when it arrived, but my expectations were still low. If you are considering this for a child, I would advise the child to be old enough to understand that this storage chest should only hold light items OR should not move much as it will hold heavier items. I bought this to store my pig guinea on the roof of her closed 2 x 6 mesh C&C cage. It's perfect for a slightly smaller 1x4 mesh and leaves just enough room for me to open the other half of the lid for feeding/daily sweeping and gives them a closed corner to hide. I don't put anything super heavy in it because it's basically cardboard, fabric and velcro. I hide little things like her clean wool, treats, mini dustpan, dustpan, extra water bottles and toys so I can take everything away without having to empty it first when I need/need it. I also really liked the idea of just rolling it up if/when/should I no longer need it.
