Very nice looking design but this is quite a small carafe and 24oz fills it about 80% to 85% to the neck. Larger than pictured (which can't be more than 18-20 ounces). In addition, it is made of very thin glass (on all sides). While it is claimed (on other sites) to be made from a newer/stronger lead-free crystal, I doubt how durable it will be in actual use. Especially when filled to a full 24 ounces and handled (and placed on a hard surface). Be careful when placing it on tile or granite. But definitely don't think about putting it in the dishwasher. I was hoping to put a towel in to dry the inside. It can be done but I was hoping the hole would be bigger. One more thing. This decanter was enclosed in a large foam surround in a box within a box. Permanent (more permanent) lead-free crystal does not require such treatment, only for transportation. In fact, the 29-ounce Schotts Zwiezel jars (which I recently ordered) only came in a regular plain 6-pack, with no foam or double wrapping.
