My friend was a bit skeptical when I bought it for him, but now he uses it all the time :) The gap in the mat is a large space for air intake on each side and cooling The laptop drives fast down, the fans don't turn on nearly as often when in use. The USB cable for turning on the fans is short, so you don't have to worry about tangling. When the fans are on, you can't hear them at all (unless you're in a very quiet room, of course). We usually sit on the couch with our laptops, so it's much better if you don't feel the heat from the fan. Laptop and the fact that the mat is very light. This product is definitely worth the money and I can only recommend it. I believe reviews are only for customers who are interested in learning more about a product before making a purchasing decision.
