Purchased to replace a FLUVAL G-3 that supports a 55 gallon aquarium. While FLUVAL is an excellent filtering device, the cost of the filters is prohibitive (extremely expensive). While this unit doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the G-3 does, it's MUCH more economical to maintain and does the same job (at a lower cost). 2 Notes: 1. It comes with an extra round rubber gasket (for the inlet pipe at the bottom of the motor assembly), put it in a safe place and don't try to install it on another (like I tried) and 2. The initial venting took a little time and effort before all the air was expelled. You can tell whether there is still air in the device by the fact that it will be very loud.
