Review on COROS Adventure Oximeter Monitoring Ultra Durable Outdoor Recreation by Kenny Outlaw

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Best altimeter, best sport and wearable GPS

A very specific watch for specific needs. I bought it after testing various other watches including the Garmin 5X. They really do have the best altitude sensors of any watch over 8000 feet. Most Garmin watches were at 100-300ft after 8000ft, which is usually no more than 20ft. up to 14K (not tested above). The only Garmin watch that was anywhere near accurate was the 601, but it's impractical for training because it doesn't track well. App, battery, heart rate monitor and tracking are very good. I also think they have the best mileage accuracy of anything I've tested in terms of watches. The main disadvantage: they do not crumble. At least not in active mode. This should be fixed with an update. Until then this watch gets 3 stars as at the moment I can only use it for training to keep track of stats and heart rate. For crumbs on the glaciers I have to take a Garmin 601 with me for safety reasons. Another downside: Post-activity heart rate stats are easy to see. However, it would be nice if you could easily edit them (cut pauses if you forgot to stop) like Polar allows you. But I don't really care since I only track altitude in activity mode. Please note that I am not comparing to Garmin Inreach, only Garmin watches. Garmin's range is very accurate with altitude. Final Thoughts. if you are a hiker or runner. This watch might not have all the bells and whistles of the Garmin 5X and might not be right for you (unless you prioritize battery life over the bells and whistles). If you are a mountaineer and often find yourself above 8000 feet. This watch is what you need. I only wear this watch during workouts, so I won't comment on its everyday use.
