Cheap thick expensive glass with poor quality control

I don't really understand why they get such good reviews. Haven't people ever been to Crate and Barrel or Macy's? You can get glass of similar quality for $2 to $3 each - $5 off Black Friday sale. So you're basically paying for a cool box and neat design. It is definitely NOT crystal and not even quality glass. Yes they are heavy but that doesn't mean they are high quality. Each of the 4 glasses we had had noticeable imperfections - nicks in the rim, uneven rim etc. I give them 2 stars - 1 for the packaging it came in and 1 because it looks mostly the same as the photo . Minus 3 stars for poor quality, flaws, poor workmanship and cheap glass. Personally, I don't like drinking scotch, whiskey, or cocktails (like the old-fashioned ones) out of thick-rimmed glasses. It was hard to tell from the photos how thick the bezel is, and of course the product photos on Amazon don't show any flaws. I would compare the quality of this glass to what you get at a low bar - you know, well above a real pub where they've just switched from plastic to cheap glass and want something cheap but heavyweight. so it doesn't break all the time. If that's what you want, you can get them cheaper by buying cheap stuff at Macy's or in boxes and kegs. Unless, of course, the gift box really does it for you, in which case spring is for her.
