Effective! Completely eliminates odors and makes your old clothes look new again! I wouldn't recommend giving up soap altogether. You should skip all bleach (bleach and ozone cancel each other out) and you don't need fabric softener. However, you will need some soap to loosen grease and stubborn dirt and flush them down the drain. Amazing disinfecting, deodorizing and cleaning power! Having sold the most advanced commercial ozone scrubbing systems for over 25 years and I know how incredibly effective ozone is for hotel and hospital scrubbing, I never imagined a residential unit would actually work. Boy was I wrong. In the end I broke down and bought one of these devices and was absolutely sure that they would work from the first start because I know what to look out for. Surprisingly, this unit releases almost as much ozone into the water as my industrial grade systems ($30,000 systems). The disadvantage of these devices is that the water is processed slowly. Filling the washing machine takes much longer. The reason for this is that the water and ozone bubbles must be in contact with each other for the ozone to dissolve in the water where it acts when washing clothes. The longer the bubbles are in contact with the water column, the more ozone will dissolve in the water - so NO hurry! That's exactly how it works when it's supposed to work properly! It cannot be overstated how well these things work. Not sure how long they will last, but so far so good!
