The fan motor in my 2006 Express 2500 stopped working and I could smell burning. I removed the fan motor and found a bunch of dirt in the motor part, removed the rubber hose from the bottom and shook out all that junk. Blow it out with compressed air and was able to hand crank the fan motor to loosen it. I reinstalled it and it worked but only in HI settings. This does not work for the first 3 fan settings. So I ordered this resistor and replaced the existing one. The old one seemed a bit burned. I installed this and now my fan runs at all speeds. Easy to fix. My guess is that if the fan motor has too much resistance (like garbage) then the resistor will burn out. Tools: 10mm for removing coolant, 5.5mm for removing fan motor screws and resistor screws.
