As a new marathon runner I was looking for a solution that would allow me to carry large water bottles with me while I was training. This good. The bottles are compact but I found I hit them while running due to their height. In addition, if you run for a long time in hot weather, the liquid will heat up quickly. They started adding semi-melted (smaller) ice cubes to the bottles, which help keep the liquid cooler longer, and the cubes fit into the necks of small bottles. A young niece recently took a hydration belt with her on a hike. We had to refill their bottles with water from our big bottles but it worked fine.
