Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Carrollar Color-Coded Flexible Plastic Cutting Board Mats with Food Icons, Non-Slip Backing, Set of 4 by Dedra Whitebird

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Inexpensive, but after a year it will not fall. Artificial anti-slip coating.

This was the perfect size for our chopping board and one of the few we could find that didn't have those unnecessarily large hanging holes in the corners that only make things worse. The price was encouraging and a blind buy. After a year, however, they were more or less disposable. Don't get me wrong, they still work, but they no longer lay flat even after being rolled in the opposite direction of the chain to become semi-flat again. This makes the non-slip texturing even less effective than when new, which was minimal at best, and even that seems like an optimistic overstatement. For under $5 selling on Amazon, they're not bad for a cheap temporary cutting solution. But we will pay more for something better next time. Or you can stick your own non-slip backing on it. This is our main gripe: they added non-slip texture on one side. This actually just makes the rug less functional as you can't turn it over and use both sides. It can also make it thinner than usual, resulting in a greater chance of warping. The non-slip texture is simply a die-cut pattern in the same material as the top. It is not rubberized like conventional anti-slip mats. The fact that they actually act like there's more to it than there really is makes us wonder if we should support the brand, the brand as a whole. I would compare them to the Rada floor mats that we replaced. Food symbols were ridiculously unnecessary and undesirable. But it's a good thing that there are four mats of the same size in the set, for a quick change and not for cleaning the mat when changing from cutting meat to cutting vegetables when you don't have much time. At just over 1/16 inch thick, they are also very flexible for slicing sliced foods into a pan. Our rating is based solely on the price. If these rugs cost ten dollars or more, it wouldn't even be worth thinking about.
