Beautiful, compact zoom lens with considerable focal length. It auto-focuses quickly and can track wildlife like birds in moderate light. Great too. I believe this is a definite upgrade from the AF-S version for crop sensor cameras like the D5xxx and D7xxx. This is a good lens to start with if you can't afford the Nikon 200-500. It can work well for outdoor sports under sunlight. Take it. You will not be disappointed. I took these photos the same day I posted this review. They are portable and at 300mm. No finishing was done other than some large trimmings and the addition of small sharpeners.
