Read the reviews carefully. Putting on sturdy shoes sounded perfect for my 9 year old. We tried size 5 first, which is one size larger than his actual foot size. He said they were too tight. I sent them back and ordered a size 6. He wore them to school and came home with a big blister on his toe and complained that they were too tight and uncomfortable for him. So we liked the shoes, but they didn't fit my child's rather narrow foot. Also, one of the insoles was not properly bonded, making the shoe appear to be of poor quality and poorly constructed. Amazing for the Merrell brand.
