UPDATE: If you read my first post, we were initially very happy with this system. It has really helped us keep our dogs engaged. We live on a 400 acre farm and the dogs ran away during the hunting season, got too close to the porcupines etc. For a few months this didn't allow it and it was amazing. Then everything went wrong. First, the antenna on the phone appeared to have fallen apart. Everything seemed to work fine without her, so it didn't really matter. Then one of the "prongs" fell out of the wrong collar we bought so technically we couldn't shock the dog anymore. Luckily at this point all we had to do was put the collar on and he was taught to think he might be electrocuted so he still wouldn't run away. Then when the system worked for us for about 11 months, the PDA just wouldn't turn on. We have contacted the company to exchange things but they basically said that we have to send in the various items that don't work and they CAN fix them and send them back to us. It was very inconvenient because we needed some kind of working "fence" and when we send different parts we need something else to take its place until we get it back. In short, we had to buy another fencing system. So, a year later, we've lost about $1,000 on everything, and dogs still run away when given the chance. Another complaint: a few times the dogs ran away while the system was fully operational, beyond a certain distance the GPS couldn't track them so we had no idea where they were, which direction they were running or when. They returned to the house. It was uncomfortable. FIRST POST: At first I was skeptical and apprehensive about spending so much money on something with few good reviews, but this has been life changing for us and our furry kids. So far we are very happy with it. (We use it for about 2-3 months.)
