Ideal for polishing polyacrylic wood surfaces

The final step in my polyacrylic wood finishing process is polishing to perfection. I like to use synthetic polishing pads, which are similar to cleaning pads but softer. I have found that a random orbital sander with a traditional velcro system will pick up these pads and polish the surface nicely. The only problem is that the pads are difficult to remove from the grinder. The finishing pads leave fibers stuck in the hook and eventually the pads fall apart as more and more fibers are removed. Interface seals are the ideal solution. I allocate a contact seal for each grade of termination seal and never remove the termination seal from the interface seal. The Interface Pad attaches to the grinder and leaves no fibers behind. As a bonus, the soft interface pads add an extra level of smoothness, enhancing the finish. The only downside to these interface pads is that the attachment to the grinder is very strong. It is a bit difficult to separate the interface plate from the grinder. I suspect this problem will decrease over time as the mounting surface wears.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Not the best
